1. I exercised faith when we bought our new build home in Newalla, Oklahoma that we would be able to find somewhere to live for two months (the time between when our lease was up {we live in college student apartments - we would have to sign a year contract if we were to renew} and the time when the new house would be ready. I had seen the Lord's hand in our lives undeniably that I could not doubt that he would provide a way for us. The day after we signed our agreement on the new build, the grass outside the apartment building caught on fire - if the kids had not seen it or had not said anything about it, I'm confident the building would have gone up in flames. I called the fire department, but the neighbors upstairs are the true heros who actually put the fire out. The little damage that was done was on the exterior wall where the boys' room is. All's well that ends well, This incident put us in a position to ask for the favor of extending our lease a few months... which they were willing to do.
2. We went to a friend's home for dinner tonight. They made two different kinds of homemade noodles, had homemade bread, salad, shrimp, chicken, and sausage. It was obvious they spent much time on the meal and presentation. We showed up late with two pans of cookies baked, and two pans ready to be baked. It was so embarrassing! Their big house was clean (including the kitchen). I walked into our tiny messy apartment (with a messy kitchen) and sighed. I have to remind myself that I am still in maintenance phase with my little ones. I did, however, open up my Family Search account and tried to work on it a little while Levi climbed all over me. I'm trying to have a Mary's heart in a Martha's world. 3. I went to the Bishop's office to get motivated to work on my family history. When she pulled up my account, I felt the Spirit so strongly that it brought tears to my eyes. 4. Bella and Will (he wants to be called Will, not William now) both sang duets in Primary but not together. I am so proud of them! 5. I am so thankful for the herb pack that helped my clogged duct/mastitis. 6. Greg painted his first painting today! He has been virtually mentored by Bob Ross on YouTube. 7. Greg held a bunny at the feed store yesterday and had a reaction again... his hands started itching and bumps started forming. He started coughing and had an itchy throat. Luckily the van had a flat tire and so we were stopped long enough trying to fill the tire to realize that there was a problem. I ran in the gas station and got him some Benedryl Luckily, it was sufficient. A friend later told me that once two symptoms are activated, then it is time to use the EpiPen. Yikes! We have been so blessed! 8. On her own, Madilyn reorganized the boxes in the rooms so that we can make room for Sara and her family to visit us soon... we've never had company. I'm so nervous. 9. Will is on antibiotics for Strep throat. I am so amazed that he just does as he is supposed to; I never have to remind him to take his medications. 10. The speaker today said that her husband's family shoved religion down his throat. It made me wonder if I am doing that. My desire to do what's right may be overshadowing my love for the Lord. I spend more time reminding my kids to read their scriptures than actually reading the scriptures myself. Hmm. I need to repent. I have a feeling that as I fill my heart with the good word that my love for the scriptures will naturally flow into their hearts, minds, and souls and then they will have a desire to feel that same happiness.

1. Greg made three loaves of whole wheat bread all by himself! I am so proud of him! He wasn't too excited when I asked him to bake some bread for us; he was wanting to learn more of the CAD program. I told him not to worry about making it, because he wasn't able to put love into it. To my surprise and happiness, he changed his attitude and made the best loaves of bread! We ate two loaves fresh out of the oven and had to restrain ourselves from scarfing down the third!
2. Emma Leigh calls Brooklyn: Berklyn. So cute! 1. William scored his first touchdown!!! He caught the football and ran it clear down the field! He is a fast runner- he gets it from his Dad. I was so bummed I missed it. The girls and I were at cousin Emma's birthday party. I have a feeling it won't be his last touchdown- now that the quarterback knows his mad skills.
1. I get so angry at the kids -the itty bitty's- for not wanting to get ready for church or for asking for help on the things they can do themselves. With church at 8:30, and not being a morning person, we are always scrambling the whole morning trying to get ready for church. When they are not in align with what I need them to be doing, I resort to force and I hate it. This morning, it was with Rosie and showering. Will is always so cheerful or silly with the kids. I know that tactic works - it's just at the moment, I can't even think of anything clever to say to motivate them to move. All I've got it - it just needs to get done and we're doing it. I think the underlying reason for my anger is that I hate being embarrassed. Getting to church late without makeup on is embarrassing. Not being prepared for my class is another stressor.
2. Bro Walker said that Greg was a good guy to have at camp and that the two leaders' young sons just followed him around the whole time and Greg didn't seem to mind because he was used to little ones following him around all the time. 3. Bella said the scripture in Primary. It took a $1 bribe from Dad to do it without tears. She got an extra dollar for staying home and feeding Levi when she wanted to go early with Dad and the boys so Dad could play prelude and Greg could prepare the sacrament. 4. Madilyn's Primary teacher said next week he wants all the kids to be as reverent as her. 5. William's Primary teacher (who happens to be Aunt Debra) said he is so good. When all the other rowdy boys are trying to get him involved with in the chaos, he doesn't give in. 6. Emma Leigh did pretty good in class - in fact, my Primary lesson went well. Emma Leigh tends to use force to help the kids in her class obey (I wonder where she gets that from :/). Interestingly enough, she could be a bit more obedient. Ironic. I love being her teacher, nonetheless. I do think, however, that she would do better and participate more if she had a different teacher. 7. Rosie took care of Levi in Nursery Class- he slept the first two blocks, but actually did well during snacks and clean up. Yay! 8. During family council, we got some clarification on the kids' stations. it is their responsibility to make sure it is clean and tidied; however, they can find out who made the mess and have them clean it up. For laundry, the clothes are nicely put on the correct cart and then the sibling is told that clothes are ready to be put away. If they don't, Mom gets involved. 1. Madilyn is bummed that we haven't painted her new room yet.
2. Greg is glad he got to meet his elite flag football team. 3. William's practice with his flag football team, Northtown Funk, was fun. 4. Bella is glad she didn't have to have stitches in the thumb she cut yesterday while she was washing a big knife that Dad just sharpened days earlier. 5. Bella had a tooth extracted. She did much better controlling her emotions. 6. Emma Leigh's leg hurt for a few days after she had her immunization shots. 7. Rosie likes to pick flowers to give to Mom after church. 8. Levi keeps breaking out with hives, only a few, after almost everything he eats. We know he is allergic to oats per the hives after the granola. 9. I love seeing Levi's toes under the bathroom door while he is waiting for me to come out. 10. Levi throws his sippy cup when it is empty. 1. The past few days as I have been out with the kids, Greg has said that it feels like we are missing someone.... You know what that means. 2. The spot on his big toe where Greg was stung by the scorpion is still numb; everywhere else is fine. Yesterday I pulled some oils for him because he said his chest was kinda hurting. I was afraid it was a delayed reaction to the poison. I tested him for Frankincense, Vanilla, and MyGraine. I double checked the last one a few times because Greg has never had a migraine, nor was he complaining about his head at all. A few minutes later he started complaining about his head hurting! It was so cool to know what he needed before he even asked for it. 3. I have had a three basin sink for a few days...we were yet again considering moving. I don't want to put my sink in this house if I need to stage it to sell. Will kindly asked why I haven't worked on figuring out the plumbing for the new sink. Truth is I don't want to wind up like my MIL, who seems to do everything around the house. There are certain things that I consider a man's responsibility and plumbing is one of them. Him doing it will help him gain manly skills and it will help me feel gratitude for my manly hero of a husband. I know I am capable of doing it if I had to, but I like to watch him work and it's a gentle reminder for him that he is needed. 4. We are doing chores based on liberty not force, wish me luck. 1. Levi can say Ma and Dad. I've heard him say dog a few times. He hardly ever talks; it seems he doesn't need to. He communicates very well without words. But today he said no for the first time and then repeated it a handful of times and seemed to really enjoy saying it. Oh boy!
2. My kitchen is a wreck. Typical me - I start taking cabinets off the walls without a firm game plan. Sigh. One day I'll learn, but really, where's the excitement in that? ;) Hopefully my kids are learning what not do to. Haha. 3. I zoned Madilyn, Rosanna, and Levi today. It feels so good to take care of my family! 1. This may be the one and only night Levi gets a room all to himself. Will and the other boys are at a camp out.
2. Day 2 of cold showering... The water heater went out and I thought it would be a fun challenge to see if we could live without one for a week. I don't mind boiling the water for dishes, or the other things, but taking a cold shower is difficult! I must say, however, that I use much less water and take a much quicker shower and I feel way more alert afterwards. Also, everytime I turn on the hot water faucet and feel the cool water, I am thankful that although it is cool, it is water and it's coming out of the faucet. Such a blessing! 3. Girls night out with aunt and cousins... So proud of Madilyn for knowing how to set up the tv! |
